The Making of a Custom W.R. Metalarts Ring - W.R. Metalarts

The Making of a Custom W.R. Metalarts Ring

At W.R. Metalarts, we take pride in being a small business with big dreams. We know that it can feel intimidating to start the process of creating a custom jewelry piece, so our goal here is to take the mystery out of the equation. Unlike most jewelers, every step of our ring creation process happens in-house, allowing us to provide unparalleled transparency and cost control. Let's take a glimpse into how we create a unique piece of jewelry just for you.

The 5 steps to making a W.R. Metalarts ring:

W.R. Metalarts fine jewelry custom consultation

1) Initial Consultation
Your journey begins with a friendly conversation. Our founder, Will, will chat with you to understand your vision, style, and preferences. You’ll have a chance to ask any questions - nothing is off the table. This personalized consultation sets the foundation for a ring that perfectly suits your unique story, personality, and lifestyle.

2) Design Collaboration
Once we’ve locked down a vision for the finished piece, our designer, George, taps in to transform your ideas into a tangible design. Whether via hand drawing or digital 3D rendering (or both), you’ll see a preview of your custom ring design, ensuring every nuance is captured and allowing you to visualize the final product before it comes to life. We can even show some varying options to help you decide what combination of ideas works best for your dream piece.

3) Sourcing Metals and Stones
Once it’s time to bring the design to life, we begin selecting our materials. Our founder, Will, leads the way in making sure that each element of your ring reflects your values - whether you prefer a lab-grown stone vs. a US-mined stone, or Fairmined gold vs. recycled metal options. Your piece will be created using a curated selection of high-quality materials that meet our standards for social and environmental responsibility. This ensures that your custom ring not only looks stunning but also supports a more sustainable jewelry industry.

4) Precision Crafting
When the time has come to transform our carefully selected materials into a new custom piece, that’s when Vanessa and/or Martin step in at the jewelry bench. They use traditional techniques like Mokume Gane, along with more modern technology, to craft each new heirloom. Every curve, setting, and facet is expertly crafted by a caring hand, resulting in a ring that is as unique as the love it symbolizes.

5) Quality Control and Shipping
At the final stage of the custom ring journey, your piece is carefully inspected to make sure it upholds our standards for quality. We want to ensure that what you receive not only meets but also exceeds your expectations, standing the test of time and becoming a cherished heirloom. Once the ring is approved, it is carefully packaged in our Vermont studio and shipped right to you!

At W.R. Metalarts, ethics and ease are not just buzzwords; they are at the core of everything we do. We thrive on creating meaningful connections with customers who want their jewelry to reflect their values. Your custom ring is not just a piece of jewelry; it's a symbol of your love and our commitment to craftsmanship, transparency, and ethical practices. Join our small team on the journey of creating something truly extraordinary. We make it fun, we promise!
