LOOSE STONES · HAND-CURATED

Known origins

Every stone we keep was chosen one at a time, by hand, from a source we can name. Not a parcel bought sight-unseen from a wholesaler - a specific stone, from a specific mine, cut by someone we know.

Where they come from

Three ways we buy a stone

We don't buy from anonymous supply. Everything in the case arrives through one of these three routes, and each one leaves a record we can hand to you.

Dug on this continent

Montana sapphires out of the Eldorado Bar and Rock Creek deposits, sunstone from Oregon, garnet from Idaho and the Arizona anthills, tourmaline out of Maine. Small operations, often a single family, frequently the person who pulled the stone out of the ground.

Bought from the miner herself

Directly sourced gemstones from the women miners of East Africa, supporting ethical practices and empowering local communities. Stones are bought at open, fair-price market days — the miner is paid directly, and her name travels with the stone.

Origin on the paperwork

Canadian-origin diamonds carrying their own mine-of-origin identification, plus lab-grown stones when a client wants one. No stone enters the studio without documentation we can read and verify ourselves.

What we have right now .

These are individual stones, not categories — when one is gone, it's gone. If nothing here is quite right, tell us what you're picturing and we'll go looking.

Moyo Gems

Moyo Gems is a miner-to-market collaboration in Tanzania and Kenya, tracking rubies, sapphires, tourmaline, garnet, citrine, and amethyst from the ground up - working directly with women artisanal miners to build safer conditions, fair pay, and steady access to market.

Moyo means 'heart' in Kiswahili. Fitting, since that's exactly what these stones carry.

Every piece leaves with its paperwork .

The stone's origin travels with it — mine, region, and where possible the person who dug or cut it. The metal carries its own code, stamped into our records for every alloy we pour, so a ring made years from now can still be traced back to the batch it came from.

Ask us for a stone's record at any point. We keep it because we think you should be able to see it, not because anyone requires us to.
